Jesse Kurtz: The Future of Atlantic City
By admin | October 27, 2009

(Supporter Minh Nguyen)
This is the name of a recent article. Here is an excerpt from the article:
Kurtz’s main goal is to “fulfill the promise of Atlantic City and to transform the city into a vibrant, complete destination where the entire town not only engages both residents and visitors but also shares in the prosperity.” This type of vision is exactly what the city needs if it wants to rebound from its current struggles.

Beautiful Pro-Kurtz Letter to the Editor

Kurtz perfect
for Atlantic City

Atlantic City has the second opportunity of a lifetime. The first was to welcome casinos. The second is to vote for Jesse Kurtz for mayor of a city that has withered under years of ineffective, self-promoting, corrupt politicians.
Yes, Kurtz is young. He is also bright, thoughtful, has a sense of humor, is an honorable husband and doting father of two and has an incredible work ethic. He will bring the revival that Atlantic City so desperately needs while taking care of the residents in the city. He will cut costs of city government while promoting the resurgence of broken areas.
While The Press did not endorse Kurtz (or anyone else in the race), the paper surely did give him some accolades. But age is not the issue. The issue is competency, intelligence, diligence and, above all, a love of his city, a feel for its pain and a vision that only youth can assume. My only regret is that I cannot vote for Jesse because I am not a resident of the city.

NAACP Forum
By admin | October 20, 2009
Jesse O. Kurtz participated in Monday night’s NAACP Mayoral candidates’ forum.
The debate focused on the contrast between the tired old thinking of our current Mayor and the fresh direction of the Kurtz message and vision for the future of Atlantic City.
Elaine Rose of The Press of Atlantic City reports:
Three men, each wanting to occupy the corner office on the top floor of City Hall, exchanged their ideas for the future of the resort – and a few insults – during a debate Monday night at the Jethro Memorial Presbyterian Church.

A Superior Approach
By admin | October 12, 2009
The Press of Atlantic City editorial board meeting for Atlantic City mayoral candidates showed a difference in approach between Jesse O. Kurtz and his opponents.
The Press of Atlantic City states:
When asked what he considers his biggest achievement, [the Mayor] says … getting re-elected. That speaks volumes about his vision and his priorities.
In contrast, here is what the Press of Atlantic City wrote about Jesse O. Kurtz:
Of the four, Republican Jesse Kurtz comes the closest to displaying the qualities we would like to see in the next Atlantic City mayor. His vision for Bader Field, for example, forsakes short-term gain for a long-term benefit, delaying casino development for at least 10 years to allow Boardwalk and Marina casinos to develop fully. He also wants to cut the City Hall workforce and streamline city government.
Kurtz says that being knee-deep in City Hall culture and politics is a minus, not a plus, for the next mayor. There is some truth to that.
While the Press stopped short of offering a full endorsement, they did affirm one thing: Jesse O. Kurtz is the best candidate running for Mayor of Atlantic City.
The contrast between Mr. Kurtz and his opponents is more defined when watching the Press editorial board meeting. Click on the following link for part one of the eight part meeting & be sure to turn your volume up:

Endorsement for The Kurtz Campaign
By admin | October 3, 2009
We are pleased to announce the endorsement of Jesse O. Kurtz for Mayor by Roger Gros, Publisher of Casino Connection Magazine. Mr. Gros publishes the leading trade publications in the casino gaming industry both in Atlantic City and internationally. It is a great honor to have gained Mr. Gros’ confidence in our campaign.
Roger Gros writes in the “Early Out” section of October’s Casino Connection a column entitled Reality Check – Atlantic City: Common Sense vs. Reality:
The gap between common sense and reality is demonstrated most clearly in the election campaigns being waged in the state. Whether it’s the gubernatorial, council or mayoral campaigns, almost all the candidates suffer from this disconnect. Except for one.
Jesse Kurtz, the Republican candidate for mayor of Atlantic City, seems to have both common sense and a real grasp of reality. But common sense tells us that Kurtz can’t win because he’s too Republican in a Democratic city; he’s too young; he’s too inexperienced; he’s too (fill in the blank)…
Kurtz uses common sense to deal with the reality he sees in Atlantic City today. He understands that the city is spending too much. He understands that the “old-boy network” is alive and well in Atlantic City and is damaging its future. And he understands that real “change” means radically changing the way business is done in the city of Atlantic City.
Maybe for once, reality and common sense will come together on Election Day. Maybe when voters go to the polls, they will decide who really understands how to fix all that’s wrong with the city.
The entire Kurtz Team pledges to continue working hard to show voters our commitment to making common sense a reality as we fulfill the promise of Atlantic City.

Below is the transcript from my Twitterview with John Russo today. This was the first Twitterview in an Atlantic City Mayoral campaign. Today, we ventured into new media territory.
One of the challenges of a Twitterview is that all of my answers had to be 128 characters or less and Mr. Russo’s questions had to be 127 characters or less. Enjoy! Read the rest of this entry »
